Many medical specialists provide vein treatment services. The benefits of seeking treatment from a board certified surgeon and phlebologist are as follows:
Vein treatments are relatively inexpensive, particularly when compared to other cosmetic procedures. For symptomatic varicose veins, many insurance companies will recognize medical necessity and will cover part or all of the procedure. VLS will be happy to assist you in verifying your benefits. An estimate of costs, along with payment options, will be provided at the time of your initial consultation.
Because of the huge numbers of these procedures being done in the U.S., many insurance companies are already excluding veins regardless of symptoms. If you have insurance coverage now, have it done as soon as possible. With the future changes anticipated in health care, coverage for veins is uncertain at best. Contact VLS.
At VLS, there are two possibilities. The first is that of EVLT, financed for up to 12 months through Care Credit or Chase Health Advantage. The second is catheter-based foam sclerotherapy, which will provide comparable results at a fraction of the cost of endovenous laser treatment.
No. With the exception of aerobic exercise, active, healthy individuals who undergo treatments at VLS return to their usual routines immediately. Compression stockings are worn after treatment for 5-10 days. Walking for half an hour at least twice daily is always recommended, and in most cases, return to full exercise including athletic training occurs in 5-7 days.
To get an accurate idea of exactly what kind of treatment and how many visits will be needed, a consultation is always recommended. All treatments are office-based. Our emphasis is on providing excellent care that is cost-effective and safe.
LASER is an acronym for Light Augmentation by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. When a medium such as a gas or crystal is stimulated by the flow of electrons, a special kind of light called coherent light is generated. That light can be used at various levels of intensity to specifically remove unwanted pigmented lesions, blood vessels or body and facial hair.
Yes. Because of our high degree of experience, we have developed techniques to assist even the most needle-phobic person through all of our procedures. These may include biofeedback, numbing cream and/or the use of a skin-cooling device.
You are describing a complication of sclerotherapy. Unfortunately, once the brown spots appear, it may take months for your body to naturally clear them. Sometimes they may be permanent. Not all patients will experience hyperpigmentation, but knowledge that it may occur is why, at VLS, we have developed our Eurofoam technique to markedly reduce or even prevent this frustrating complication.
We caution you that not all vein clinics are equal. Proximity of the clinic's office or practitioners who offer treatment as one item in many are not the best reasons to choose who will treat your veins. At VLS, you will experience unsurpassed evaluation and treatment of your vein condition that can only be achieved through years of professional dedication to the specialty of Phlebology.
It's always best to plan early for vein treatments because the need for multiple sessions and some temporary bruising or skin discoloration may require 2-4 weeks to clear after the last treatment for best results. Although leg vein treatments can be done throughout the year, facial treatments utilizing laser or IPL (light-based therapies) should always be performed on untanned skin, making fall through spring the optimum time for treatment.
While pregnancy is a major factor in the development of veins, you may have treatment between pregnancies. Doing so may help reduce vein symptoms in subsequent pregnancies. Compression stockings worn during pregnancy will help prevent phlebitis and other symptoms. VLS does not perform vein treatments during pregnancy.
You get what you pay for. You most likely received very diluted and/or outdated Botox®. At VLS, you will only receive recently reconstituted Botox® prepared according to the manufacturer's instructions.
The old stripping operation was a ‘blind' procedure, in that the surgeon simply removed the visible veins, sometimes missing the saphenous vein valve malfunction, which is the cause of varicose veins. At VLS, Dr. Agostini will perform a venous ultrasound exam to properly determine the cause and an appropriate treatment plan.
Other than their unsightly appearance, varicose veins do not usually pose an immediate threat to life or limb and may remain symptom-free, particularly in men, for years. For these reasons, they are often overlooked as a cosmetic nuisance. However, over time, varicose veins can lead to greater health problems in the future. Chronic venous insufficiency may result, leading to permanent swelling, skin thickening and discoloration (lipodermatosclerosis), skin ulcers and blood clots. Periods of immobility, such as long flights, put you at much higher risk for blood clots in the legs.
With the development of office-based, patient-friendly treatments that are available today, it is recommended that varicose veins be treated in otherwise healthy individuals to avoid the evolution of more serious health problems associated with chronic venous insufficiency.
